Lessons From Generating $22 Million Dollars in Less Than 8 Years.

My life as an entrepreneur has been an incredibly fun journey filled with a lot of awesome learning experiences, and it’s only getting better. For as long as I can remember, “making money” has been FUN and EASY.

I’ll get to how I’ve made a buncha money in a bit, but before I do… I’ll wanted to share a couple lessons I’ve learned about entrepreneurship.

The following “lessons” may be slightly counter-intuitive, but trust me they are powerful. They have helped me make more money then I could ever have really cared for, and will help you make more money IF you apply them exactly as I lay them out below!

So here they are… the top 3 lessons I’ve learned about making money as an entrepreneur.

Lesson #1: Business Is A Game and You Are The Creator

If you’ve decided to make the leap or have already made the leap to becoming an entrepreneur, the very first thing you should know is… business is a game and you are the creator.

If you’ve never been told this or never viewed entrepreneurship in this way, you’re probably not making millions of dollars a year with your company.

If you have heard this, then great. You are probably already well on your way to making your millions and now can directly apply lots of what I’m about to lay out on this blog post. Either way, you’re gonna love this stuff.

The moment you decide entrepreneurship is just a fun game that you are creating, everything just becomes MUCH EASIER and WAY more fun. If you don’t make this fundamental shift in mindset that’s cool too…but you’ll probably be headed for a lot of hard work and no fun. (and who want’s to do that?!)

Here’s why I see entrepreneurship as this fun game that I’m creating:

Think about the last time you played a game growing up. Did you have lots of fun? I’m pretty sure you did…right? When I was growing up, I always loved playing games, because I was really good at them and I loved to win. (not to mention my mom would love to play board games..haha)

It didn’t matter what the game was or what the rules were, I ALWAYS had tons of fun and ALWAYS did my best to win. Whenever I didn’t win, I don’t remember ever getting depressed, stressed out, frustrated, really disappointed or sad. All that happened was, I become EVER MORE DRIVEN to win and EVER MORE passionate about the game. To the point where I would calculate moves in advance and read the manuals to the games and figure out how to become better at the game! :) i

Imagine if that’s how everyone reacted when their business wasn’t working out the way they wanted it to.

Fast forward to my business career. I quickly realized that by making business a fun game that I wanted to win, then that’s what happened. So instead of struggling like many of my friends were (and still are!), I created my own rules (because I hated listening to other people’s rules) and off I went.

I decided how the game was going to work, who was going to be involved in the game, the challenges, and OF COURSE the rewards. I even thought up who my opponents would be (things like the state of the economy, or my industry) and how I’d ultimately beat them.

The Way My Game Works:

  1. I am the creator of the game and get to choose all of the rules.
  2. I can make the game as fun and enjoyable as I want or as frustrating and disappointing as I want.
  3. There are many levels to the game and my goal is simply to master each one and move on to the next or in some cases skip ahead.
  4. The game really never ends, so my goal is always to have as much fun on each level as possible.
  5. Whenever I make a big mistake I just start that level over again, but this time I already know what to look out for.
  6. The game is a collaborative game to be played with many people… kinda like World of Warcraft (try playing it if you don’t know what I’m talking about).
  7. There are many challenges as well as secrets within the game, the more secrets that I unlock the easier the game becomes to win.
  8. I get to choose all of my team mates to play the game with and the more team mates I have the easier the game becomes. I only play the game with players who choose to play fair.
  9. If there’s something that really isn’t working then I have the ability to change the game by changing the rules or how the game works.
  10. The best players are given the most money to play with.

From my experience there are ways to get to higher levels of the game much faster and easier then I first thought… I’ll share those with you in a bit.

The unfortunate reality for most entrepreneurs is that they don’t see business or life in this way. From my observation, most people are playing and seeing life and business from a much different perspective and it is something much more like this.

The Way Most People Play and See the Game:

  1. They don’t create the rules and wait until someone else tells them what to do and how to do it.
  2. They sit back and are victims to external situations and circumstances that the world throws at them.
  3. They are constantly reacting to the external world and therefore never become the creators of the game.
  4. They haven’t clearly articulated the rules of the game, the goal of each level, or the end outcome of the game. Therefore, they are playing a game which often doesn’t make sense to them.
  5. There are many challenges and rules they haven’t created, so there game becomes frustrating, difficult, and boring causing them to just give up.
  6. There is no end goal to the game, and they seem to think the purpose of the game is to make lots of money and spend it on expensive things.
  7. They are not creating the game to best suit them and don’t understand how it works, therefore, the game becomes extremely difficult and hard to play.
  8. They feel out of control with the game and often times sit there praying or wishing that something good was going to happen.
  9. They oftentimes play the game with players who think and act the same way, thus causing them to get more of what they don’t want.
  10. The game isn’t fun and oftentimes leaves them unmotivated, dissatisfied, and wondering why things aren’t working out.
  11. Finally, they’re locked in a scarcity mindset. They believe that there’s not enough money to go around, that having more money is better, and that this is just the way life is.

Even though, so many “business leaders and analysts” talk about entrepreneurship being so difficult and hard, and that you have to ‘pay your dues!’… well, I’m here to tell you that the game of entrepreneurship doesn’t have to be this way.

You set the rules and life will become what you say it is and what you believe it to be.

If you follow these simple lessons closely and start creating and playing the game of entrepreneurship as I teach them through my experiences, you’ll be able to quickly master new levels and achieve success you may never have known even exists… pretty cool right?

Lesson #2: Like Life, the Game of Entrepreneurship Has Predictable Laws

Just like in life, I’ve come to learn that there are many laws to the game of entrepreneurship. If you understand the laws of the game you can use those laws to help guide you through all of the different levels. The laws have never seemed to change, but my awareness of them definitely has.

Imagine for a moment that you didn’t understand that “Law of Gravity” or that it even existed in our world. What do you think would happen? My guess is that you’d have a pretty damn hard time working in this world and that you’d probably get yourself into a lot of trouble.

Maybe you’d keep dropping and breaking things, maybe you would fall of something and hurt yourself, or maybe you’d even die from doing something stupid.

In the game of entrepreneurship there are laws just like there are laws in our world, and there are only two ways to learn these laws. Either you learn these laws through playing the game enough OR you do the smart thing and learn from someone who’s mastered a level you haven’t played yet.

I’m going to introduce to you 3 laws of entrepreneurship that I’ve used to master levels quickly and make loads of money… these have taken me more than 10 years to learn and master.

Law 1: The Law of Giving

This one is awesome and it is really easy to understand. It’s unfortunate that most people don’t seem to use it that often.

Have you ever watched someone who is homeless or asking for money?

I know its a harsh example of reality, but 95% of the time they are asking for something from someone and only 5% of the time they actually give advice or directions. Even when they do this they actually are expecting something in return.

The more I play the game the more I realize that the more you ASK from the Universe WITHOUT GIVING ANYTHING, the less it is going to give you.

On the other hand, the more you give selflessly without expecting ANYTHING in return in, the more the Universe will bring to you. I’ve mastered this law and use it everyday to constantly bring happiness and wealth into my life. And yes I’m going to build a billion dollar business off this one law… it’s that powerful.

  1. Give whenever you can whether it is something small or large.
  2. Give your time, money, and energy whenever possible.
  3. Share your advice with the world and all of the knowledge that you have.
  4. Give to as many people as possible and as often as possible.
  5. Always give the best of what you have to offer.

Cultivating this mindset will do extreme wonders for you and will bring unimaginable things into your life.

Law 2: The Law of Focus

The Universe we live in is like a hologram. It’s like a giant IMax that is all around us from the moment that we open our eyes in the morning to the moment that we close them at night.

Imagine for a moment that every thought you had got sent up onto the IMax in front of you, and your bodies emotions just reacted to the image. If you thought of something sad (maybe like someone dying), that would go up onto the screen and you would start to feel sad right away… interesting right.

Well, imagine that you wanted to make a ton of money and do a whole bunch of great things with that money BUT… you couldn’t stop thinking about your debt, how hard it was going to be, and the risks that were going to be involve. What do you think would happen?

From my experience, the IMax screen would fill out with really awful pictures causing you to experience really limiting emotions, which would stop you from getting what you really wanted.

It’s quite simple… what you focus on internally will become the reflection of what you see on the IMax screen around you, which will dictate the emotions you have, which will control your behaviors, which will determine your level of achievement.

What You Think = What You See = How You Feel = The Way You React Emotional = What You Do = What You Get.

THINK – SEE – FEEL – REACT – DO – GET

Therefore, bottom line… FOCUS on what you DO WANT (NOT on what you don’t want!)

I’m going to cut this blog post short, but if you are loving the content then definitely check back soon.

In the next post I’ll get to the third predictable Law I’ve used to create an abundance mindset about money and happiness. Lesson number 3 of my three lessons I promised to share with you, and I’ve got 10 really powerful tips you’re definitely going to want to learn.

My goal here is to give you everything you need to build a great business you love and to live a great life.
